Legends on the Lake Festival

PRESS RELEASE:

Cream, Coldplay to headline inaugural Legends on the Lake Festival (June 19-22, 2009)

It is with our utmost pleasure that we announce the first ever Legends on the Lake Festival held at Legend Valley in Hebron, Ohio. This four-day festival (June 19-22, 2009) is located only a short distance from Columbus, Ohio – an easy travel from Cleveland, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Morgantown. Legend Valley is a historical venue that has hosted The Grateful Dead’s Woodstock reunion and Hookahville.

Cream and Coldplay have been confirmed as headliners for the festival.

Cream, legendary rock band consisting of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker, last reunited in 2005. Often considered one of the fathering bands of modern rock music, Cream combines blues and rock to forge an unforgettable sound. Known for songs such as “Crossroads” and “Sunshine of Your Love,” Cream will appeal to those who know the music, and win over new fans with their amazing live performance.

The festival will boast over 100 acts and 6 stages. Other acts already confirmed to play include DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, Beck, George Thorogood & the Destroyers, Rancid, Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, She and Him, Santogold, and Janelle Monae.

Joan Baez will kick the festival off on Thursday late-afternoon with a special main stage performance. Columbus’s own Ekoostik Hookah, who host Hookahville at the same venue and are prominent in the tri-state area, will play multiple sets over the course of the weekend.

The fun does not stop at sun-down. “The Monsters of Folk” featuring Jim James, Conor Oberst, and M. Ward have been exclusively booked for a late-night show featuring an assortment of special guests. GWAR will take to one of the tents for an epic theatrical late-night show only for the strong of stomach. Other night sets will be announced shortly.

We are also excited to announce a stage on Thursday night completely curated by actor-comedian Rainn Wilson. Along with this exciting development, Legends on the Lake will feature a free-speech open-mic stage. Called the Soapbox, this stage will allow musicians and fans alike to stand up and speak their mind! Look forward to special scheduled guests to appear on the Soapbox, such as Zach Galifianakis and Henry Rollins.

Tickets will go on sale for $225. Ticket price includes admission to the four day festival and on-site camping. In an effort to help protect the environment, $1,000,000 of the profits will be donated to Ohio State Parks.

More information on Legends on the Lake to come shortly! In the meantime, get very excited, because we sure are!
